Sean O’Kiersey

Sean O’Kiersey is a 67 year old gentleman from Deansgrange in Blackrock who is quite unique among our coffee morning hosts we think! We believe that he just might be the longest running male host for coffee morning as this is his 21st year  – almost from the very start of coffee morning.

He started coffee morning as he had a health scare two decades ago and made something positive from it and is now somewhat of an institution in the locality.

“Once the first ad goes out on the radio neighbours contact me to say they are coming! They never ask if we will have a coffee morning again. They just assume!”

He has a brilliant network of neighbours and friends and they make a real day of it. He also has great support from his local business community.

“I ask for sponsorship from the local supermarket; hairdresser, chemist etc. and hold a raffle when everybody has left. The raffle prizes are displayed on a table together with the names of the donors and a request made asking visitors to support the local businesses.”

And as for the all-important sweet treats in store?

“We supply brack cut up and buttered. This is the absolute favourite year after year!”
