Bewley’s Employees Gear Up for Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice

Bewley’s Staff Cycle 500km in 4 days to support Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice!

On Friday September 1st, six Bewley’s employees set off on a 500km cross country cycle to raise much needed funds for Hospices nationwide as part of Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice Together with Bewley’s which takes place on Thursday 14th September. The cycle kicks off on the 1st September in a bid to raise €7,000 for local hospice care and finishes four days later in Dublin.

Over the four days the six strong cycle team will visit seven hospices across the country. The team will leave the newly built Kerry Hospice on Friday 1st with their sights firmly set on their second stop in Milford Hospice, Limerick. Further stops at Cahercalla Hospice in Clare, Galway Hospice and the Offaly Hospice make up their trip before they cycle through Dublin city finishing up with visits to Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services in Harold’s Cross and finally St. Francis’ Hospice in Raheny, Bewley’s own local hospice.

Mark Saunders, Brand Director with Bewley’s said “Bewley’s has been the proud sole sponsor of Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice each year since it first began in 1993.  As an Irish family company originally founded on Quaker principles, the cause, campaign and our very special relationship with Hospice are very much treasured in Bewley’s. Our now annual cycle is a great opportunity for us to not only support the campaign but also visit the local hospices and see first-hand the amazing work both staff and volunteers do and how the funds raised each year are put to great use in providing vital services in all our communities for those who need it most.

With demand for hospice services rising each year we want this year’s coffee morning to be the biggest and best yet! Last year nationwide over 7,000 coffee mornings were held raising over €1.7m.  This year we are hoping to raise over €2m for this vital cause and that’s why we are asking everyone to take a break on Thursday 14th September and enjoy a cup of Bewley’s coffee while raising funds for your local hospice.”

Pat Quinlan, Chair of the Voluntary Hospice Groups said, “Fundraising is vital for our hospices nationwide as this allows us to respond to the growing demand for hospice and homecare services. The annual Bewley’s staff cycle as part of Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice is a great initiative that not only raises much needed funds but also allows the Bewley’s team to visit the local hospices and see how the money raised each year benefits hospices and home cares around Ireland. The team kick off the cycle with a visit to the brand new Kerry Hospice in Tralee which would not have been possible without the support of Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice Together with Bewley’s.”

Celebrating 25 Years of Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice Together with Bewley’s

Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice Together with Bewley’s Celebrates 25 Years!

Get Brewing and Host a Coffee Morning for Your Local Hospice or Homecare Service on Thursday 14th September

On August 10th 2017, representatives of hospice and homecare services throughout the country gathered at Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services, Harold’s Cross to launch Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice Together with Bewley’s and called on the people of Ireland to host a coffee morning on Thursday 14th September to help raise vital funds for their local hospice and homecare service.

Celebrating twenty-five years of coffee mornings, it is hoped that Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice Together with Bewley’s will raise a much needed €2 million for local hospice and homecare services nationwide to meet with growing demands for the service.

A whole host of celebrities including, Brendan and Domhnall Gleeson, Boyzone star Keith Duffy, comedian Mario Rosenstock, Clelia Murphy and Dr. Ciara Kelly, are asking people nationwide to support this important campaign by hosting or attending a coffee morning and help to give patients the best quality of life during their illness.

Ambassador Keith Duffy said, “It’s such an honour to be an Ambassador for this vital campaign and help in any way that I can to draw attention to the great work that the hospices do for all Irish people. I have been personally touched by the amazing work done in St. Francis Hospice and I have seen first-hand the impact the money raised through Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice makes to patients, staff and families. Across the country, Hospice has, and will continue to provide people with the comfort of knowing that they are cared for throughout what can be one of the most difficult times in a family’s life.”

Pat Quinlan, Chair of the Voluntary Hospice Groups said, “Each year, hospice and homecare services across Ireland are responding to growing demands for their services and endeavoring to do so to the highest standards. The nature of hospice care is such that we must be in a position at all times to be able to respond in an appropriate and timely manner so that patient needs are fully met and their families supported. The funds raised from Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice Together with Bewley’s are crucial in order to ensure that our services meets these objectives on an ongoing basis and clearly without such support we could not provide the level of services that we do. The success of campaigns like this is thanks to the incredible supporters; our coffee morning hosts, guests, Ambassadors and our sponsor Bewley’s. We thank them for their unwavering commitment, support and partnership over the last 25 years.”

Mark Saunders, Brand Director with Bewley’s said “Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice is one of Ireland’s longest running charity campaigns which to date has raised a massive and vital €34 million for local hospice and homecare services all around the country. Bewley’s is proud to support the campaign once again this year as we have done for last 25 years. As an Irish family company originally founded on Quaker principles, community is very much at the heart of Bewley’s and each year we continue to see the importance of hospice and homecare services around Ireland and the real and meaningful difference the money raised makes to communities locally. With demand for specialist palliative care services rising each year we want this year’s coffee morning to be bigger and better than ever! That’s why we are asking everyone to come together on Thursday 14th September and enjoy a cup of Bewley’s coffee while supporting your local hospice and homecare service.”
